Beneficio de Polo Ralph Lauren cae un 57% en el cuarto trimestre fiscal

Polo Ralph Lauren registró una ganancia de 44,5 millones de dólares, o 44 centavos por acción, durante el cuarto trimestre de su año fiscal, una merma del 57% frente al beneficio de 103,5 millones, o 1 dólar por acción, del mismo período del año anterior.  El trimestre del 2009 incluyó cargos de 69 millones por medidas de reestructuración y rebajas contables vinculadas a tiendas. Sin embargo, el resultado trimestral superó las expectativas de Wall Street.  La compañía predijo una caída en las ventas del nuevo año fiscal más pronunciada que la prevista por los analistas.  La empresa informó el miércoles que los ingresos sumaron 1.220 millones en los tres meses, una merma del 1,3% frente a un año atrás.  Según una encuesta de Thomson Reuters, los analistas esperaban, en promedio, que la firma anunciara una ganancia trimestral de 40 centavos por acción e ingresos de 1.090 millones. En general, las estimaciones de los analistas excluyen las partidas extraordinarias.  El margen bruto descendió del 54,3% al 51,8%. La acción de la empresa subía el miércoles por la mañana un 5,1% a 57,13 dólares poco después de la apertura oficial de Wall Street.
