Faes Farma presenta un nuevo antihistamínico para su aprobación en Europa

La farmacéutica Faes Farma, con sede en Leioa (Vizcaya), ha presentado a las autoridades europeas el dossier de registro de "bilastina", un antihistamínico "con efecto prolongado, seguro y altamente selectivo, indicado en rinitis y urticaria", según la información remitida por la empresa a la Comisión Nacional del Mercado de Valores (CNMV).

El dossier resume los diez años de investigación que Faes Farma ha dedicado a este medicamento, en cuyos ensayos clínicos han participado más de cinco mil pacientes en el mundo.

La documentación presentada a la Unión Europea se compone de 213 volúmenes y comprende 74 estudios de farmacología, 30 de toxicología, 12 en biomateriales humanos y 26 estudios clínicos.

Estas cifras revelan, según señala Faes Farma, "lo arduo de su realización y la gran complicación de las múltiples tareas preclínicas, clínicas y de desarrollo farmacéutico y productivo".
