Iberdrola ahorró durante 2008 cerca de 5 millones de MWh gracias a medidas de eficiencia

Iberdrola registró un ahorro de cinco millones de megavatios hora (MWh) de energía durante el pasado ejercicio, gracias a la puesta en marcha de diferentes medidas orientadas a promover la eficiencia energética introducidas en sus áreas de actividad en todo el mundo, informó hoy la compañía en un comunicado. La firma indicó que más de la mitad del ahorro energético registrado durante el pasado ejercicio se produjo en la generación de energía, a través de plantas de cogeneración, puesto que estas instalaciones aprovechan la electricidad producida y el vapor de agua resultante. Iberdrola explicó que entre enero y diciembre del pasado año su producción renovable e hidráulica se situó en 28 millones de MWh, lo que evitó el consumo de combustible necesario para producir una cantidad equivalente de energía a través de tecnologías térmicas de generación. La compañía indicó que durante 2008 proporcionó una gama de productos y servicios que promueven el uso eficiente de la electricidad, además del ahorro energético. Entre estas iniciativas destaca la 'Energía Verde', procedente de fuentes renovables y libre de emisiones contaminantes.
