Abertis lleva a Argentina y Chile sus foros internacionales para impulsar la concienciación sobre seguridad vial en el cono sur

Autoridades públicas y expertos de diferentes ámbitos debatieron ayer en Argentina y hoy en Chile sobre los retos de la seguridad vial y sobre cómo la participación público-privada puede ayudar a luchar contra la siniestralidad en las carreteras.
Abertis presenta las últimas novedades de su programa global de Seguridad Vial, como el novedoso acuerdo con UNICEF para paliar los daños en los accidentes de tráfico en los que se ven afectados niños de camino al colegio; o el acuerdo global con la organización iRAP (Programa Internacional de Evaluación de Carreteras) para contribuir a la mejora continua de sus propias redes.
Los foros de Seguridad Vial de Argentina y Chile se suman a los ya celebrados en España (Planeta Vial, el pasado 9 de abril) y en Brasil (Foro de Segurança Arteris, en septiembre). Se prevén nuevas ediciones en otros países de la red del Grupo Abertis.

En Argentina, el Foro de Seguridad Vial de Abertis reunió ayer, 12 de abril, a representantes del Gobierno de Macri, autoridades de tráfico y diversas organizaciones de la sociedad civil. Al igual que en Argentina, el foro chileno plantea el debate desde varios puntos de vista, como la labor de concienciación sobre seguridad vial entre los públicos más vulnerables, así como también desde la perspectiva del modelo constructivo y de mantenimiento de las carreteras con el objetivo de poner en valor las mejores prácticas en materia de seguridad vial.

Los foros de Seguridad Vial en Argentina y Chile se suman a otros foros que impulsa el Grupo Abertis en su red. En España, el pasado 9 de abril de celebró el II Encuentro Planeta Vial; y en Brasil, la filial Arteris celebra cada septiembre su Foro de Seguridad Vial, que en 2017 cumplió su cuarta edición. El objetivo es incrementar el número de países de esta red de Foros Internacionales de Seguridad Vial, añadiendo Francia o Italia.

Acuerdo con iRAP: auditorías independientes para “autopistas que perdonan”

Además, cabe destacar el anuncio del acuerdo global con la organización benéfica iRAP (Programa Internacional de Evaluación de Carreteras) para impulsar su programa de “autopistas que perdonan” a través de la aplicación de los más altos estándares en materia de seguridad vial de las carreteras.
iRAP es una institución sin ánimo de lucro dedicada a salvar vidas en la carretera. Desarrolla una metodología científica y herramientas predictivas reconocidas por instituciones del más alto nivel como las Naciones Unidas, o el Banco Mundial, entre otras.

Abertis se ha convertido en la primera operadora privada de autopistas en cooperar a nivel global con iRAP. La metodología científica aplicada permitirá a Abertis tener una auditoría independiente del nivel de seguridad de una manera homogénea y altamente profesional que contribuirá a la mejora continua de las autopistas del Grupo.

Alianza Abertis-UNICEF Rights of Way

Por su parte, Sergi Loughney ofrecerá las últimas novedades de la alianza global con UNICEF alcanzada en octubre para combatir la principal causa de muerte en niños en edad escolar: los accidentes en carretera.

En el marco de este acuerdo, Abertis ha incorporado un nuevo ámbito de colaboración con el Institut Guttmann, hospital especializado en el tratamiento medicoquirúrgico y la rehabilitación integral de las personas con lesión medular, daño cerebral adquirido u otra discapacidad de origen neurológico.
Así, dos equipos médicos especializados en el tratamiento de lesiones de origen neurológico (lesión medular y daño cerebral adquirido) del Institut Guttmann se desplazarán a diversos países para llevar a cabo sesiones de formación y asesoramiento a los médicos locales sobre las mejores prácticas aplicadas para la prevención y el tratamiento de lesiones derivadas de accidentes de tráfico.

En una primera fase, los equipos visitarán hospitales de Filipinas y Jamaica, países englobados en el acuerdo UNICEF-Abertis que, como muchos otros con ingresos medios y bajos, tienen en la siniestralidad vial de niños un problema de salud pública. En el futuro, está previsto ampliar el número de países beneficiados por este acuerdo.

La selección de los centros médicos elegidos para las sesiones de formación se llevará a cabo teniendo en cuenta las necesidades locales y de acuerdo con el asesoramiento de organismos locales centrados en el ámbito de atención a las víctimas y de prevención de complicaciones médicas. En el caso de Jamaica, se prevé la colaboración con la Asociación de médicos ortopédicos, y en el caso de Filipinas, se trabajará con grandes centros médicos.
El programa marco de Abertis y UNICEF es el primer acuerdo mundial en materia de seguridad vial entre una corporación y la organización internacional y supondrá la inversión de 3 millones de dólares entre 2017 y 2019 en Jamaica y Filipinas en una primera fase, aunque podría extenderse a otros países que tienen en la siniestralidad vial un problema de salud pública.

Las inversiones se centran en 3 áreas principalmente:

• Proporcionar rutas seguras a la escuela para todos los niños y niñas: a través de zonas de baja velocidad, infraestructuras seguras, incidencia y educación
• Transporte escolar seguro para todos los niños y niñas: a través de legislaciones, fortalecimiento del sistema de transporte, incidencia en la mejora de la seguridad del transporte escolar (cinturones de seguridad, normativa de los autobuses escolares, etc.)
• Iniciativa del uso de casco para niños y niñas (particularmente en aquellos países en donde la moto se ha convertido en el principal medio de transporte familiar): incidencia, campañas de sensibilización, provisión de cascos, etc.

Filipinas

El Proyecto se centrará en 50 escuelas y llegará a cerca de 250.000 niños y niñas. A nivel nacional, se prevé que esta experiencia piloto sirva para complementar la política nacional existente en materia de seguridad vial.

Las principales actividades, llevadas a cabo en colaboración con los Ministerios de Salud y Educación, serán: desarrollo de materiales educativos y de sensibilización destinados a estudiantes, padres y el público en general; mejora del sistema nacional de seguridad vial (cruce de datos existentes, análisis de la legislación vigente, métodos de seguimiento, desarrollo e inclusión de indicadores de seguridad vial para niños y niñas); análisis de la estrategia nacional con los diferentes actores implicados.

Jamaica

El Proyecto se centrará en 15 escuelas y se dirige a cerca de 12.500 niños y niñas.

Las principales actividades, en colaboración con el Consejo Nacional de Seguridad Vial y el Ministerio de Educación, Juventud e Información, serán: crear zonas seguras alrededor de las escuelas (pasos de cebra, señalización, etc.); establecer clubes de estudiantes para promover la seguridad vial; reforzar el curriculum con el componente de cambios de hábitos y comportamientos en materia de seguridad vial; fortalecimiento institucional a diferentes niveles, organización de campañas de sensibilización.

La seguridad vial está presente en dos de los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible (3.6 y 11.2) y la prioridad de un "viaje seguro a la escuela para todos los niños" es un compromiso de la Nueva Agenda Urbana Hábitat III de las Naciones Unidas.
