Atos, líder internacional del sector de los servicios digitales, ha publicado el listado de los 15 equipos finalistas de su concurso IT Challenge, el primer concurso internacional de desarrollo tecnológico para estudiantes, que este año celebra su quinta edición. El tema propuesto invita a los estudiantes a abordar uno de los mayores retos del siglo XXI: cómo gestionar nuestros datos personales en la red y velar por nuestro derecho al olvido (Si se cumplen determinadas condiciones, una persona puede, en virtud de su derecho al olvido, solicitar que una empresa proveedora de servicios de información haga desaparecer por completo todos sus datos).

El nivel del concurso, que este año ha contado con la participación de estudiantes procedentes de 19 países distintos, ha dejado el listón muy alto. Los proyectos presentados incluyen desde herramientas para monitorizar, gestionar y actualizar perfiles en red, tanto individuales como corporativos, hasta soluciones tecnológicas que permiten controlar quién accede a nuestros datos personales, cómo y cuándo lo hace.

Los equipos seleccionados

Los 15 equipos que superaron la primera fase fueron seleccionados por un jurado compuesto por miembros del Comité Ejecutivo de Atos y de la Comunidad Científica de Atos, una red mundial que agrupa a aproximadamente 100 de los mejores expertos en tecnología empresarial de Atos. En la siguiente fase, a cada uno de los equipos seleccionados se le asignará un tutor que hará las veces de guía y asesor durante el desarrollo efectivo del proyecto, cuya versión definitiva deberá ser presentada en mayo de 2016. Se elegirán entonces 3 finalistas, y el ganador será anunciado durante el mes de junio. Los 15 equipos seleccionados para pasar a la segunda fase son los siguientes:

· MEMORIES es una aplicación híbrida diseñada por un equipo de la Universidad Savitribai Phule Pune, que tiene por objeto eliminar los «recuerdos» personales que pululan por la red para así mantener su privacidad.

·  Go n Gone es una idea propuesta por un equipo de la Universidad Asia Pacífico de Tecnología e Innovación. La aplicación que proponen serviría para eliminar automáticamente todos los datos personales cada dos años. Incluiría también filtros para palabras malsonantes destinados a prevenir el acoso en la red (cyber-bullying).

 

Marruecos

· UndoME es una idea gestada en la Faculté des Sciences et Techniques (Facultad de Ciencias y Técnicas) de la ciudad de Settat. Propone una herramienta que permitiría efectuar búsquedas acerca de la reputación en la red de un individuo determinado y valoraría si los contenidos detectados son o no apropiados. El usuario podría entonces seleccionar los datos que desea eliminar para que la aplicación gestionase el proceso de eliminación.

 

Senegal

· PersonalManager es un proyecto planteado por un equipo de la Universidad AIMS-Senegal que esboza una aplicación destinada a evitar usos no autorizados de los datos personales al impedir el acceso a los mismos (y, por lo tanto, su manipulación) si el propio usuario no da su permiso.

 

España

· ODat es una aplicación ideada por un equipo de la Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, que almacenaría los datos generados por un usuario determinado en un lugar seguro y encriptado de la red, de tal forma que solamente el propio usuario podría acceder a ellos.

· wareware es una aplicación proyectada por un equipo de la Universidad de Cantabria que facilitaría al usuario informes periódicos y notificaciones acerca de su perfil o perfiles en la red. En caso de que el usuario considerara que su privacidad ha sido violada, contaría con un asistente que le ayudaría a gestionar su reputación en la nube.

 

Corea del Sur

· I´m es una aplicación ideada por un equipo de la Universidad Dankook, que permitiría registrar y almacenar los datos personales en el teléfono móvil del usuario. De este modo, el sistema emitiría una notificación cada vez que una empresa o corporación tratase de acceder al perfil para que el usuario pueda permitir o denegar el acceso.

·POP (Protection of Privacy/Protección de Privacidad) es una idea presentada por un equipo de la Universidad Soongsil para desarrollar una aplicación que seleccionaría el programa de gestión más adecuado para detectar y recuperar la información generada por un individuo determinado (fotos, vídeos, blogs…) y ayudarle a manipularla, modificarla o, en su caso, eliminarla.

· Data Vaccine es el proyecto imaginado por un equipo de la Universidad Dankook para facilitar a los usuarios un mayor control sobre sus datos personales con la idea de garantizar una protección efectiva basada en el derecho a la autodeterminación informativa.

·  Mr. Hide Hawk es una aplicación planteada por un equipo de la Universidad Stamford International, destinada a eliminar datos personales de distintos sitios web valiéndose de una búsqueda única desde la cuenta personal de Google del usuario.

 

Reino Unido

· Breadcrumb es una idea presentada por un equipo de la Universidad de Loughborough para desarrollar una herramienta de gestión de la reputación que ayudaría a los usuarios y a las empresas a comprender cuáles son exactamente sus derechos en lo que al derecho al olvido respecta. Además, permitiría crear contenidos estratégicos y obtener acceso a estadísticas de negocio detalladas.

. NetPA es un proyecto de aplicación diseñado por un equipo de la Universidad de Loughborough. La herramienta que proponen detectaría, reuniría, analizaría y filtraría de forma anónima los datos personales elegidos. A partir de la valoración obtenida, la aplicación sugeriría al usuario distintos modos de gestionar el contenido inadecuado, dando prioridad a la eliminación de los datos cuando sea posible.


Los premios

Por primera vez en la historia del concurso, tanto el ganador o ganadora como los o las dos estudiantes que resulten finalistas obtendrán una recompensa económica –de 10.000, 5.000 y 3.000 euros respectivamente– destinada a facilitar la introducción de la aplicación desarrollada en el mercado, para lo cual contarán con el apoyo y el asesoramiento de un equipo de altos cargos ejecutivos de Atos.

El concepto

El certamen IT Challenge forma parte de la iniciativa Atos Wellbeing@work, y comparte sus mismos objetivos: espolear el talento y contribuir a su desarrollo. Se trata de un programa establecido en 2012 con la intención de promover la innovación en las nuevas generaciones de profesionales de TI.
