Deporte Universitario Adaptado en EEUU

Fundación Universia y AGM Education impulsan un programa internacional de becas por el deporte inclusivo con el respaldo de Banco Santander

Este programa de becas celebra su primera edición bajo el nombre “Deporte adaptado en universidades de Estados Unidos”.
El objetivo es fomentar la integración social y laboral de deportistas preuniversitarios con discapacidad.
El plazo de solicitud finaliza el 29 de mayo.

Fundación Universia, que cuenta con el mecenazgo de Banco Santander para sus actividades, y AGM Educación, han lanzado la primera convocatoria de becas para “Deporte Universitario Adaptado en Estados Unidos”. El objetivo es fomentar la integración social y laboral de deportistas preuniversitarios con discapacidad, contribuyendo a enriquecer su experiencia académica y profesional mediante la realización de estudios en universidades de EE UU con programas de deporte adaptado de élite. Al facilitar el desarrollo académico y profesional de sus beneficiarios, estas ayudas económicas tienen como finalidad incrementar sus oportunidades para obtener un empleo de calidad.

Pueden solicitar las becas aquellos estudiantes de bachillerato que cumplan con los siguientes requisitos:

• Haber terminado sus estudios de secundaria, o estar finalizando segundo de bachillerato antes del cierre de la convocatoria de becas.
• Acreditar muy alto nivel en el deporte adaptado que practique, mediante documentación oficial (comunicación de selección nacional) y/o audiovisual (vídeos).
• Haber superado el examen TOEFL (examen de nivel de inglés) con una puntuación mayor de 61.
• Haber superado el SAT (prueba acceso a la Universidad en EE.UU) con una puntuación mayor de 900.
• Contar con presupuesto personal adecuado para cubrir sus gastos de residencia y estancia en EE UU.
• Acreditar legalmente una discapacidad igual o superior al 33% o incapacidad permanente.

Este programa conjunto de Fundación Universia y AGM pretende favorecer que deportistas de élite con discapacidad que estén cursando ahora la ESO o bachillerato puedan estudiar su carrera universitaria en EE.UU.

Además de una formación de alto nivel, podrán continuar con su carrera deportiva en alguna de las universidades con mejores entrenadores y atletas universitarios del mundo.

Becas para deporte adaptado
Además del deporte universitario, algunas universidades norteamericanas cuentan con programas de competición en deporte adaptado, con oportunidades, principalmente, en dos disciplinas: baloncesto
en silla de ruedas y tenis en silla de ruedas.

Estas universidades ofrecen becas deportivas a deportistas de alto nivel, y si el estudiante solicitara participar en este programa y cumple con todos los requisitos académicos y deportivos, contaría con el
apoyo de Fundación Universia y AGM durante todo el proceso para facilitar que accediera a una de estas becas y financiar gran parte de sus estudios en tierras americanas. Por otra parte, además de las
becas existe una ayuda económica parcial para ayudar al beneficiario con la inversión a realizar.

Evaluación personalizada de los candidatos
El plazo de solicitud de esta primera edición del programa finaliza el 29 de mayo, pudiéndose inscribir aquellos candidatos que no cumplan con todos los requisitos académicos: se valorará cada caso y la
organización se pondrá en con los distintos candidatos para ayudarles a participar en futuras ediciones.
