El ministro de Economía y Desarrollo Sostenible de Georgia ha anunciado hoy que Anaklia Development Consortium LLC ha conseguido un contrato para construir y desarrollar un puerto de aguas profundas en Anaklia. Los 2.500 millones del proyecto se destinarán a la creación de un nuevo corredor marítimo entre China y Europa que ayudará a restaurar la histórica Ruta de la Seda y a estimular el crecimiento nacional y regional.

Anaklia Development Consortium es una joint venture entre TBC Holding LLC, con sede en Georgia, y Conti International LLC, un importante proveedor de infraestructuras y proyectos de capital de EE. Mamuka Khazaradze, fundador y presidente de TBC Holding y fundador y director de TBC Bank JSC, ha afirmado: «El proyecto Anaklia supone una inversión única en su clase para la restauración de la Ruta de la Seda, que proporcionará beneficios a generaciones de trabajadores de Asia y Europa. El gobierno de Georgia tiene mucho mérito por su decisión de iniciar este proyecto y asegurarse de que reciba el apoyo necesario para su realización. Su nivel de compromiso refleja claramente la enorme importancia económica que tiene el puerto para el país y la región».

El comienzo de la construcción está previsto para finales de 2016, ya que sigue sujeto al fin de las evaluaciones medioambientales. El puerto estará operativo tres años después de la colocación de la primera piedra. Se prevé que el proyecto cree 3.400 puestos de trabajo en la fase de construcción y 6.400 puestos de operaciones una vez terminadas las obras. El puerto tendrá capacidad para procesar 100 millones de toneladas de mercancías y generará el 0,5% del PIB anual para 2025.

Kurt Conti, CEO y Presidente de Conti International, ha declarado: «Estamos encantados y es un honor para nosotros haber conseguido este contrato para desarrollar la infraestructura del puerto de aguas profundas de Anaklia. Estamos deseando dar comienzo a las obras y trabajar con el gobierno de Georgia para ayudar a crear nuevas rutas desde Asia hasta Europa y desatar el potencial económico de los países vecinos y las naciones del interior del Cáucaso».

Situada en el extremo este del Mar Negro, Anaklia tiene una posición estratégica dentro de la ruta más corta entre China y Europa. La ruta se ha convertido recientemente en el eje central de 40.000 millones de inversiones chinas en infraestructuras dentro del Fondo de desarrollo de la Ruta de la Seda y ya supone el 26% del volumen del comercio exterior chino. La reciente apertura de la Banca asiática de inversión en infraestructuras (AIIB) también colaborará con el desarrollo regional de infraestructuras. La restauración de la Ruta de la Seda ha sido una de las mayores prioridades para Georgia y se realizará bajo el marco de un acuerdo extenso y completo de libre comercio (DCFTA) que firmó con la Unión Europea en diciembre de 2014.

Como parte del acuerdo de hoy, Anaklia Development Consortium también obtiene el derecho a desarrollar una zona franca industrial que respaldará las operaciones y el comercio del puerto y que acogerá a empresas locales e internacionales. Se administrará con un régimen de exención de impuestos para incentivar el traslado y uso del puerto de empresas de transporte, fabricantes, negocios y empleados.

El puerto de Anaklia se ha concebido para revitalizar el Cáucaso y la región central de Asia con la apertura de rutas comerciales para naciones vecinas y del interior como Armenia, Azerbaiyán, Kazajistán, Uzbekistán, Turkmenistán, Kirguistán y Tayikistán. El acceso a estos países es limitado y el desarrollo de infraestructuras en Anaklia puede ofrecer la ruta más eficiente y segura para los millones de habitantes de Asia central y el Cáucaso.

Acerca del puerto de aguas profundas de Anaklia

  • El puerto abarcará unas 400 hectáreas de terreno. Anaklia Development Consortium ha obtenido derechos exclusivos e irrevocables para utilizar este terreno durante 49 años.
  • Los gastos de capital estimados para el puerto ascenderán a 2.500 millones de USD
  • El puerto proporcionará acceso a aguas profundas a barcos de todos los tamaños hasta Post-Panamax.
  • Cuando terminen las obras, el puerto tendrá capacidad para procesar hasta 100 millones de toneladas de mercancías al año.
  • El puerto será la entrada principal de importaciones para unos 17 millones de habitantes de los países del interior del Cáucaso y 146 millones de habitantes de los países de Asia central.
  • La capacidad de infraestructura y la profundidad del puerto permitirá el paso de las embarcaciones de mayor tamaño del Mar Negro, demasiado grandes para atracar en los actuales puertos de Georgia.
  • El puerto tendrá capacidad para albergar a 10.000 buques TEU.
  • Anaklia Development Consortium también obtendrá los derechos para desarrollar una zona franca industrial de unas 600 hectáreas junto al puerto.
  • Se espera que los equipos ultramodernos del puerto sumados a otros factores de eficacia operativa generen un beneficio de más de 170 USD por TEU.
  • La Comisión Europea ha previsto que la modernización de los servicios de transporte de Anaklia ahorrarán a la Unión Europea hasta 10.000 millones de EUR para 2023 y reducirán los costes de puerto asociados en casi un 7%.

Acerca de Anaklia Development Consortium LLC (or “ADC”)

 

ADC es un consorcio de TBC Holding LLC de Georgia y Conti International LLC de EE. UU. El holding fue fundado por Mamuka Khazaradze, también fundador y presidente de TBC Bank JSC.
