El pacto alcanzado, que convierte a Telefónica en proveedor estratégico de TI de SEAT, se enmarca en la estrategia de SEAT de posicionarse como compañía referente en soluciones de movilidad conectada y digitalizada.

En ese sentido, el acuerdo entre compañías refleja la colaboración en tres áreas principales de trabajo: el uso compartido de insights (información extraída a partir de los datos anonimizados y agregados) para diseñar soluciones optimizadas de movilidad; la aplicación de la conectividad 5G en el coche conectado y el desarrollo de proyectos de transformación digital dentro del proceso de fabricación de coches.

 Uno de los puntos destacados del convenio valora la implementación de las nuevas tecnologías para las redes 5G en el ecosistema del coche conectado y el coche autónomo. El despliegue de redes de quinta generación de Telefónica va a ofrecer un salto cualitativo en la capacidad, calidad, tiempos de latencia y velocidad de las telecomunicaciones, lo que permitirá crear nuevas experiencias y escenarios de uso del vehículo conectado. Bajo este marco, ambas compañías trabajarán en diferentes sesiones de innovación y talleres de ideación, con el fin de proponer y valorar aplicaciones de esta tecnología en el automóvil. Las propuestas que sean identificadas como apuestas de valor, serán testadas mediante pruebas piloto en escenarios reales, zonas concretas dónde Telefónica haya desplegado estas nuevas capacidades.

Asimismo, la colaboración contempla también el desarrollo e implantación de iniciativas de Industria 4.0 en el proceso de fabricación de vehículos. En este sentido, Telefónica y SEAT colaboran en una prueba de concepto basada en la tecnología Blockchain para mejorar la trazabilidad de piezas dentro de la cadena de suministro de la fábrica de Martorell. Además se implementarán soluciones y sistemas basados en IoT (Internet de las Cosas) con la intención de mejorar y agilizar la gestión con proveedores y la relación entre los mismos.

El convenio plantea además la implementación de herramientas y mecanismos conjuntos que faciliten la recolección, gestión y análisis de datos, -respetando siempre los principios de privacidad, confidencialidad y transparencia hacia los usuarios propietarios de los mismos-.

Además, ambas empresas trabajarán conjuntamente para explorar los beneficios que pueda aportar el Big Data y el uso compartido de datos en el diseño de nuevas propuestas de movilidad. En ese sentido, se desarrollarán soluciones optimizadas de movilidad para ciudades y núcleos urbanos que implementen gestiones más inteligentes de tráfico, parking  u otros servicios relacionados.
