Este es el primer producto desarrollado por Telefónica para resolver los problemas creados por la denominada "economía de la atención". En un mundo en que cada vez estamos más conectados digitalmente, los canales en los que recibimos información se están volviendo omnipresentes en nuestro día a día. Los usuarios de smartphones encuentran cada vez más difícil concentrarse con el zumbido continuo de nuestros dispositivos, que genera estrés y ansiedad. De hecho, más del 50 % de los usuarios cree que las notificaciones de los teléfonos inteligentes son una distracción, lo que les obliga a deshabilitar las notificaciones y eliminar aplicaciones a un ritmo significativo.

Para afrontar este desafío, Telefónica ha desarrollado una nueva tecnología patentada llamada Smart Notifications para determinar el momento en que los usuarios son más receptivos a las interacciones con las marcas. Smart Notifications utiliza la inteligencia artificial y el aprendizaje automático para predecir los momentos en que los usuarios están disponibles y más receptivos para interactuar con las marcas, lo que permite a los profesionales del marketing estar más cerca de su público de lo que estaban hasta ahora. Smart Notifications permite que las marcas y los propietarios de las aplicaciones se comuniquen con los usuarios solo cuando estén libres, evitando así el envío de notificaciones cuando estén ocupados.

Varios casos de estudio de Telefónica demuestran que con esta solución existen entre un 30% y un 40 % más de probabilidades de que los usuarios interactúen con las aplicaciones y un 40 % menos de probabilidades de que éstos deshabiliten las notificaciones.

Todo esto se consigue sin comprometer los datos de los usuarios. Todas las predicciones se realizan en el propio dispositivo en base a la información que generan los diferentes sensores con los que éste viene equipado. Los servidores no recopilan ni conservan información personal ni datos confidenciales. La inteligencia artificial de Smart Notifications se desarrolló a raíz de un programa interno de investigación en ciencia de datos de Telefónica en Barcelona. Esta investigación, que ganó un premio al mejor trabajo en UBICOM 2015, dio como resultado un algoritmo que puede detectar el aburrimiento humano al observar la actividad móvil de una persona, teniendo en cuenta factores como el tiempo transcurrido desde la última llamada o el último mensaje de texto, la hora del día y la intensidad de uso del teléfono.

Smart Notifications está disponible para los promotores de aplicaciones mediante un kit SDK que podrán descargarse.

Telefónica también ha llegado a un acuerdo para ofrecer esta solución en colaboración con Swrve, uno de los principales motores de interacción del mundo, que ofrece una plataforma que incluye la posibilidad de diseñar y enviar notificaciones push a un público muy específico.

Smart Notifications, junto con Swrve, es una solución integral exclusiva, y la única plataforma que ofrece la posibilidad de personalizar y optimizar las notificaciones. Utiliza un motor de aprendizaje automático en tiempo real para determinar el mejor momento para enviar esos mensajes y, por tanto, aumentar el número de interacciones. La solución está pensada principalmente para organizaciones de diferentes sectores verticales como el comercio minorista, moda, comercio electrónico, juegos, redes sociales y entretenimiento; y puede mejorar el porcentaje de interacción con la aplicación, los clics y las tasas de conversión de las ofertas promocionales.
