A preguntas de los medios de comunicación sobre los daños causados por las sucesivas borrascas en este sector, que se encuentra en plena campaña, ha dicho que aún no se ha cuantificado a la espera de que finalice para evaluar la cantidad de kilos que "no se han recolectado en los meses de más valor y cuantificarlo económicamente".

"Hemos tenido que tirar la mitad de la producción de fresa", ha dicho, y además en los momentos de "más valor" del producto, ha señalado.

"YO COMO FRESAS DE HUELVA"

La campaña Yo Como Fresas de Huelva ha llegado este martes a Mérida, donde ha contado con el apoyo de UPA-UCE Extremadura, tras su paso por Adamuz (Córdoba), Madrid y Sevilla, antes de continuar su recorrido por todo el país.

En la Plaza de España de Mérida se han repartido más de 1.000 tarrinas de fresas de Huelva, un producto que "no necesita promoción", ha señalado Piedra, porque en esta provincia se produce el 98 por ciento de todo el país.

En esta campaña pretenden poner en valor el trabajo de los agricultores que "a pesar de los temporales, de las inclemencias meteorológicas y de crisis de precios en origen, se levantan todos los días para producir unas fresas sanas, seguras y sostenibles", ha remarcado.

Asimismo, ha reivindicado la importancia de este producto para la economía de la provincia, donde hay más de 15.000 hectáreas de frutos rojos, que generan más de 100.000 puestos de trabajo, de los cuales 45.000 son nacionales, pero también hay 14.000 de Marruecos, 5.000 de países sudamericanos, o 20.000 de Rumanía.

DEFENSA DEL PRODUCTO NACIONAL

La iniciativa ha contado con el apoyo de UPA-UCE Extremadura, cuyo secretario general, Óscar Llanos, ha señalado que esta iniciativa se enmarca en una reivindicación de los productos nacionales, fruto del trabajo diario de los agricultores para producir "productos de calidad, sanos y sostenibles".

Un apoyo "muy importante" en el marco de la situación de "crisis" que sufren diferentes sectores agrarios en Extremadura que espera que se graven debido al incremento de los costes de producción como consecuencia de la guerra en Oriente Próximo.

Un aumento de costes que se espera de cara a la próximas campañas de regadío, que ya arrastraba problema de altos precios de producción, y que ahora con la subida del petróleo también va a provocar incrementos en los fertilizantes, los fitosanitarios, que va a provocar que sea "todavía mucho más insostenible".

Por este motivo reclaman ya a la Junta de Extremadura y al Gobierno central la puesta en marcha de ayudas para "paliar un poco la situación de subida de los costes de producción que nos va a llevar".

En este sentido, ha señalado que ya se está viendo como "diferentes empresas multinacionales" están ya subiendo los precios "sin ningún motivo" porque a pesar de que la producción de petróleo procedente de la zona afectada supone "un porcentaje muy pequeño", ya se está viendo que "las propias empresas están subiendo sin ninguna necesidad", lo que finalmente redundará en el propio consumidor.

Por todo ello reclama el apoyo de los consumidores a los agricultores, que no se fijen solo en el precio de los productos, sino que "vea de dónde viene, dónde se produce y dónde se envasa este producto".

"No nos queda más remedio que el propio consumidor sea el que apoya al agricultor, que sea el que apoya al ganadero para poder seguir hacia adelante y poder tener esa seguridad alimentaria por la que tanto trabajamos y luchamos para que un país o una comunidad regional como es Extremadura no tengamos problemas de abastecimiento el día de mañana".

FALTA DE GOBIERNO

Sobre el decreto de ayudas del Gobierno para paliar los efectos de las sucesivas borrascas, ha reiterado su desacuerdo por dejar fuera a la provincia de Cáceres y a "gran parte" de la de Badajoz, al tiempo que reclama a la Junta de Extremadura que también establezca medidas de apoyo como ha hecho Andalucía.

En este sentido, ha señalado que la falta de estabilidad política en la región, con un gobierno en funciones y aún sin un acuerdo tras más de dos meses y medio desde que se celebraran las elecciones, está agravando la situación del sector.

"Ya es momento de tener gobierno porque lo necesitamos, tanto el sector agrario como la ciudadanía, porque estamos trabajando, estamos diciéndoles y no solucionamos ninguna cosa porque no tenemos gobierno", ha lamentado Llanos, que ha instado a los partidos políticos a que se pongan de acuerdo "por el bien de todos los extremeños".

El dirigente agrario, ha insistido en que "es momento" de tener ya un gobierno para atender a un sector que viene de la "crisis de la lluvia" y que se anticipa ya a otra por los precios de los carburantes.

"Tenemos una crisis ya en el sector importante y si no tenemos gobierno pues estamos viendo que no nos reciben, no nos contestan y con esta situación pues será insostenible de cara a la próxima campaña", ha lamentado.
